Is the Tennis elective suitable for all ability levels?

Yes. The programme welcomes everyone from complete beginners to experienced competitive players. Students train in small, supportive groups, with coaching adapted to their ability and development goals.

What will students learn?

Students develop key skills including serving, returning, groundstrokes, volleys, footwork and court positioning. Sessions also introduce match tactics, decision-making, concentration and effective communication.

Who delivers the tennis coaching?

Sessions are led by LTA-qualified tennis coaches who provide professional instruction throughout the programme. Each student receives a personal evaluation and a tailored improvement plan to support their continued development.

Do students need to bring their own tennis racket?

Students who regularly play tennis are encouraged to bring their own racket. Equipment can also be provided for students who do not have their own, subject to advance arrangement.

Can students combine Tennis with an academic subject?

Yes. Students select Tennis as their afternoon elective alongside one morning academic subject. They also participate in ISSFT’s evening activities and weekend excursion programme.

What tennis facilities are available?

Students have access to indoor and outdoor courts across a variety of playing surfaces. This gives them experience of different conditions while allowing coaching to continue during changeable weather.

Does the programme include fitness and match play?

Yes. Tennis-specific fitness sessions develop speed, strength, agility and endurance. Students also apply their skills through match play, building their tactical understanding, competitive confidence and overall enjoyment of the game.
